Weather Related Information:
During periods of tropical storms in the gulf, look to this page for information and updates on what we're seeing here on the island related to the track of the storm and what we expect to see here at Beachgate.

In my 15 years of managing Beachgate we've grown accustomed to these storms. We generally see more & longer rain from a "normal" thunderstorm than we do from these tropical storms. Fortunately, the rain from tropical storms moves across the island in bands or squall lines and the periods of rain are usually short in duration and often followed by periods of sun....followed later by another band, followed by sun, etc. until the overall storm passes inland. The good news is that storms like these make for some fun looking waves and help us clean the seaweed off the beaches.

Also, keep in mind that when forecasters call for rain here on the beach we very rarely have a shower that lasts for hours and hours. It's one of the advantages of being right on the beach. The prevailing winds coming in off the coast tend to push the storms inland and we just see rain in spurts....even though 30-40 miles inland it can be vastly different.

Sorry, like all vacation properties along the coast, we are not able to provide refunds for inclement weather. As always, if the weather for Port Aransas looks even remotely dangerous, our city officials call for an evacuation of the island and all guests will receive a 100% refund.

TROPICAL STORM DON.

Rats. Wouldn't you know it. Not even a drop of rain out of Don.

Though happily everyone had nice weather for their weekend here at the beach, Don was looking like the perfect little storm to send some rain throughout Texas. South Texas did pretty well with it, but sadly Don didn't turn enough toward the north to do much good for the rest of the state.

Thanks again to our thoughtful guests who knew to hang in there. So glad you had a nice weekend.
See you again soon.

Hello campers. Sun continues to shine here at Beachgate. We really appreciate it that Don remained a pretty gentle storm and looks to come across the Texas Coast somewhere well south of us this evening. We're still hoping for a little rain, it's been sooooo dry here for us.

A big hearty WELL DONE to all our intrepid Beachgaters who, though cautiously optimistic like we were, kept the faith and kept their eye on the constant weather reports. We only had 3 people cancel due to the storm...we're so sad. You'll be missed here at Beachgate.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good news for this weekend. Latest weather reports continue to predict a track for T.S. Don to be heading much further south and that the wetter side of the storm will be on the south edges...so we'll hopefully still get some rain on Friday night, but looks like it won't hamper our fun in the sun on Saturday and Sunday.

We'll continue to watch him as he makes his way toward Texas and give another update on Friday morning.

At this point, we're all saying Hurray for Don. Looking like he's going to stay a tropical storm and bring us some very much needed rain. Hopefully he'll also bring some rain to the rest of south and central Texas as well.

Certainly we'll be keeping an eye on him as he progresses through the Gulf.....as will our experts in the City and Coastal Emergency Management centers. Believe me, if they think it's even remotely unsafe to be here, they'll let us all know. They all tend to err on the side of extra caution.

So, don't let Don spoil your weekend plans. Since we don't even know how close he might pass us, it's likely going to be another sunny beautiful day here at Beachgate. Besides, I would hate to see anyone lose their deposit over a possible thunderstorm and too much hype from the weatherman.

We're looking forward to seeing you. Travel safely and have a great summer.
